Relevant TheoryThere are several ways to approach the concept of security and therefore there is not one single theory appliable to security.
In Information Technology (IT) it is very important to create a safe digital environment. Unwanted traffic, for example on a network, can put the security and privacy of the data on that network in jeopardy. In eGovernment, this is particularly important. Digital environments from governments usually contain a lot of private data of citizens. Therefore it is important for governments to invest in the Information Technology security, as it could have major unwanted consequences for both citizens and government when these data would land in the wrong hands. When a network is not good enough protected, it is accessible for example by hackers. This way, the information on the network is no longer secure and the privacy of the data is in jeopardy. A good way to protect a network and the digital data on that network, is to install a firewall. A firewall has the main goal to protect the network from unwanted digital traffic. It can protect the network for example from hackers, spam and spyware. This is a crucial aspect in the protection of the security and privacy of digital data, especially in eGovernment. [[1]] |
