Welcome to the European migration policy portal

European migration policy is a set of rules towards migration of people within and beyond the European Union which was a logical conclusion of establishment of the European Internal Market and the abolition of internal border control. It was established in 1990 with the entry into force of Schengen Implementation Convention. The European migration policy includes asylum, intergration, free movement within EU, policy against traffickking people, Development aid etc.

Refugee

Refugees are those who fled their country because of war, prosecution, natural disaster in order to reside permanently to other countries which are bound to UNHCR,The UN Refugee Agency. Refugee has an major impact on European migration policy as they are immigrants and are included as one of the policy within EMP (European migration policy). European migration policy strongly links to refugees because they are persons that migrated to different parts of Europe for safety there for the making of European migration policies has to be looked upon very closely to help refugees making sure they are not Displaced persons but also to protect the well being of the country.

Asylum seeker

Asylum seeker is someone who has fled his/her country,in turmoil and danger,deprived of normal life because of conflict and persecution,to apply asylum to the government of another country for the protection as a refugee. Asylum seekers are also a form a emigrate, he or she fled their country because of conflict and needs refuge from another that is capable.Where as Europe has to form and shape significantly there asylum seeker policy in connection with their migration policy.

Human rights places a strong role with in the European migration polices.The policies that has to be implemented bearing on the human rights.Human rights places a strong role with in the European migration polices.Human Rights is the rights of whole human beings of having; right to live freely, right to express the view without restraint , right to participate in any aspects of human activities which take place on the earth.The security of person not being exploited and mistreated have a strong role in European migration policy.Person in charge of policy making should be aware of the rights of human beings and also enable the immigrants to be aware of there rights as human beings and as immigrants.

EU immigration slows down

Switzerland has seen a slowdown in the numbers of immigrants coming from European Union (EU) and European Free Trade Association (Efta) countries.

At the end of December 2009, the number of permanent residents of EU and Efta nationality reached 1,066,086, an increase of 3.9 per cent on 2008, according the Federal Migration Office.

Mevlut Cavusoglu, a Parliamentarian from Turkey, was elected the first Turkish president in the history of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), established in 1949. This election is noteworthy in regards to Turkey’s position and role in Europe.

Claims over Polish immigrants' return 'not true'

A Polish expert on migration says claims that half of all Polish immigrants to Britain have returned home are not true. The Migration Policy Institute had said 1.5m people from new EU states, mostly Poles, had come to the UK since 2004 and that more than half had now left.
