Definition/short descriptionMPI's work has two dimensions, the first of them focussing on North America where they provide close cooperation with Canada, Mexico and other countries requesting a more thoughtfull and efficient policy on the regional and international level. The second regon on wich the MPI focusses is Europe, seeking a way to have a comprehensive approach to migration and intergration, and activicly having a transatlantic approach in this. In depthImportantly the MPI has close cooperation with the European Union(EU). which toghether with its memberstates searches a way to develope a evidence-based approach to migration and the managing of migration.The Migration Policy Group is a European organisation committed to contributing to lasting and positive change resulting in open and inclusive societies in which all members have equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities in developing the economic, social and civic life of Europe's diverse societies. MPG stimulates well-informed European policy debate, cooperation and action to achieve this goal in the three programme areas of Migration & Mobility; Anti-discrimination & Equality; and Diversity & Integration. MPG takes a consistent and dynamic approach to all three inter-related programmes, details of which can be found on each programme page.
The relevance of Migration Policy Group for Migration and/or Migration PolicyThe Migrant social integration Policy is relevant because it measures migration policies in other to integrate migrants in EU Member States. It major relevance is that there are policy indicators which create rich and multi-dimensional picture of migrants' opportunities to participate and intergrate better in European societies. It relevance also lies in the area of initiate policies to governments in areas that can shape a migrant's journey to full citizenship.Immigration is a crucial political issue in the European Union (EU), both because of its electoral impact, which has led to the rise of new parties and challenges to existing party systems, and because of its importance to the evolving EU single market.
