labor mobilityLabor mobility refers to the ability of workers to move between industries and locations to obtain higher wages or more favorable working conditions. It refers to the ability of the labor force to adapt to new conditions as new technologies and relocation of industries. in depthThe steering power behind the mobility is the economic concept of supply and demand of labor. When the need is created people will adapt themselves to the new situation do supply the new. Following this concept this Leeds to the best allocation of work recourses because when the demand for people who can work in a certain position is bigger as the people actually prepared to do so, the pay will rise. [1] The mobility of labor also is influenced by external influences like governmental regulations and social circumstances. Influences on the mobility of laborGovernmental policies and regulations are a great contributor or brake on how mobile a labor force is in a region. Laws which make it harder to fire a worker are contributing to a decline in labor mobility but laws which force a person to go school for a longer period of time make it more flexible. Aslo social circumstances are contributing to the mobility of labor, a young laborers probably more adaptive to new conditions as a laborer which is on the brink of retirement. And so does higher education contribute to a more flexible workforce. Reasons to move to another region for workSee also Migration push factors.
